Dogecoin is a public cryptocurrency that was created as a lighthearted joke poking fun at the crypto speculation by software engineers Billy Marcus and Jackson Palmer. Launched in 2013, it is considered as the first " memecoin" in the world. Unlike other altcoins that are designed to be scarce and to have its value increase over time, there are 10,000 Dogecoin mined every minute and the memecoin does not have a maximum total supply.
Despite the fun-loving origin, Dogecoin, ironically, has a lot more use cases than the majority of crypto.
