AAVE has climbed back above the $100 mark after posting gains of nearly 12% over the past week, placing the DeFi token at an important technical level as several developments continue to reinforce buying demand. The token traded around $100.52 at the time of writing, up 8.7% over the past 24 hours and 11.8% over the last seven days. After slipping below $90 earlier in the week, $AAVE rallied to almost $102 on July 27 before settling just above the psychological $100 level. The recovery followed several sessions of choppy trading between roughly $91 and $98. Following a decline towards $91 on July 25 and 26, buyers stepped back in aggressively, pushing the token beyond the upper end of that range and lifting it above $100 as trading activity strengthened. • Regulatory developments add to bullish sentiment One of the main drivers behind the latest recovery has been growing optimism around crypto regulation in the United States. Much of the past year, including several recent days, has reportedly been spent engaging lawmakers in Washington, D.C., over the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. The focus has been on advancing the proposed legislation before Congress enters its late-summer recess. With only a limited legislative window remaining, the progress of the bill has become a potential short-term catalyst as traders watch closely for any movement before lawmakers break for recess. • Buybacks continue to strengthen protocol economics Changes to Aave’s economic model have also supported the recent recovery. Through the “Aave Will Win” governance framework, a growing share of protocol revenue is now allocated to AAVE buybacks and treasury distributions. Under the approved structure, part of the revenue generated from lending activity is used to purchase AAVE directly from the open market. This has tied token demand more closely to the protocol’s financial performance instead of relying primarily on AAVE’s governance role. As long as lending activity remains healthy, protocol-funded purchases provide a recurring source of demand. The updated governance framework has also given investors a clearer way to evaluate how rising deposits and borrowing activity may translate into long-term token value. • V4 upgrade and Horizon expansion support long-term growth Technology upgrades have provided another reason for renewed confidence. Nearly all of AAVE’s capped supply of 16 million tokens is already in circulation, leaving little room for future dilution through scheduled emissions or major unlocks. With minimal supply overhang remaining, changes in demand can have a more immediate impact on price performance. The latest rally has also coincided with improving risk appetite across the broader crypto market as investors rotate back into established DeFi protocols with sustainable revenue models. • Can $AAVE defend the $100 level? The daily AAVE/USDT chart based on VWAP and Fibonacci extensions showed the token trading near $100.51, almost matching the session VWAP around $100.58. Holding close to VWAP after the breakout suggests buyers are still maintaining control following the move above $100. The 0.618 Fibonacci retracement sits near $99.53, placing the $99.50-$100 region as the first key support area should profit-taking emerge. On the upside, the 0.786 Fibonacci extension is positioned around $102.81. That level closely matches the recent swing high and represents the first major obstacle for bulls. A daily close above $102.81 would strengthen the bullish outlook and expose the next Fibonacci extension around $106.99. Beyond that, the next significant extension sits near $119.05, although AAVE would first need to clear resistance around $103 and then $107 before that target comes into focus. If the rally loses momentum, additional support levels appear around $97.23, followed by $94.93 and $92.18. Losing the $99.53 support would likely shift attention back towards $97, while a break below $94.93 would weaken the recovery structure established during late July. The Keltner Channel highlights a similar resistance area. Price is currently testing the upper Keltner band near $103.29, reinforcing the Fibonacci resistance around $102.80. A decisive close above the $102.80-$103.30 zone could pave the way for another leg higher towards $106.99. However, repeated rejection around that region may leave AAVE consolidating in the near term. The Ichimoku Cloud continues to favour buyers. Price remains above the cloud, while the Tenkan-sen at $95.07 continues to hold above the Kijun-sen at $92.46, maintaining a bullish alignment after the recovery from June’s lows near $60. The projected cloud also remains positive, with its upper boundary around $93.76 and the lower edge near $80.03. That places the primary trend support between $92 and $95, reinforcing the same area identified by the Fibonacci retracement as an important demand zone if buyers lose momentum. Trading volume has also accelerated throughout the recovery from the late-June and July lows, adding conviction to the latest breakout. For the rally to extend, buyers will need to defend support around $99.50 and deliver a convincing daily close above the $102.80-$103.30 resistance zone. If that happens, the technical setup would increasingly favour a continuation towards the $107 level.
