On-chain data shows that Starknet’s block production was interrupted for 4 hours today
PANews reported on April 5 that according to Cointelegraph, the Ethereum Layer 2 protocol Starknet suffered a block reorganization, resulting in a backlog of transactions. Starkscan, the protocol’s block monitoring tool, showed block production was interrupted for four hours. Starkscan shows that there is a time gap between the creation of blocks 630028 (April 5 10:30:26) and 630029 (April 5 14:16:15) on April 5, which is not reflected by Starknet's status page There were no glitches on the network that day.
Later, Starknet released a statement on the X platform, explaining that a rounding error vulnerability led to the reorganization of blocks. The company said block production continues as usual, but the restructuring has pushed the transaction backlog to its limits. "As a result, for several minutes, new transactions could not be accepted for processing and were therefore rejected," the post explained. "In addition, some transactions were reversed due to changes in parameters (such as timestamps)." The outlet contacted Starknet to confirm the incident details, However, no further information has been received and whether block production has been stopped based on the block data.
Starknet’s status page last reflected a major outage on March 13, when its network experienced slow block creation due to Ethereum’s Dencun upgrade.
