Iran officially launches central bank digital currency, to start pilot in July
According to Bitcoin.com, last Sunday, Iran officially launched its central bank digital currency (CBDC) aimed at simplifying transactions within the country's banking system. The pilot project will launch in July on Kish Island, involving Iran's two major banks, Mellat and Tejarat, and will focus on retail transactions.It is reported that the introduction of the digital rial is part of Iran's strategy to strengthen its digital economy and payment infrastructure.
