Kuwait declares cryptocurrency mining illegal
according to Bitcoin.com, according to an announcement from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, the country has officially declared cryptocurrency mining to be an illegal activity. The announcement pointed out that cryptocurrency mining violates multiple laws, including the No. 31 Penal Code Amendment of 1970, and puts immense pressure on the national electricity infrastructure.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that unauthorized mining activities lead to excessive energy consumption, increase the public network load, and may cause power outages, affecting the supply of basic services in residential, commercial, and industrial areas. The department has coordinated with multiple government agencies such as the Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs and the Ministry of Renewable Energy, demanding that relevant entities quickly adjust to compliance status, otherwise necessary measures will be taken in accordance with the law, and offenders will be handed over to relevant investigative authorities.
