Chainalysis CEO: Criminals mistakenly believe cryptocurrency is untraceable, leading to frequent kidnappings in Paris
Chainalysis CEO Jonathan Levin pointed out at the 2025 Consensus crypto conference that recent kidnappings of individuals in the crypto industry and their families in Paris stem from criminal organizations' misunderstanding of the traceability of cryptocurrencies.
Levin stated that although law enforcement agencies have made significant progress in tracking stolen funds and crypto ransom payments, leading to numerous arrests, some criminal organizations still mistakenly believe that cryptocurrencies are untraceable, thus committing these crimes.
