Trump Restores 90-Day Negotiation Window with EU
Odaily Planet Daily News: Trump stated that the EU has requested an extension of the trade negotiation window and has agreed to extend the deadline to July 9. Last week, Trump announced a 50% tariff on EU imports starting June 1. Previously, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Sunday after a phone call with Trump that the EU is ready to "move quickly and decisively" with trade negotiations with the US, but needs Trump to return to the originally set 90-day negotiation period.
After Trump's change of stance, Bitcoin briefly surged past $109,000, currently quoted at $108,840.
Previously, on May 23, Trump stated, "The main purpose of the EU's establishment is to take advantage of the US in trade. The negotiations with them have made no progress, and it is suggested to directly impose a 50% tariff on EU products starting June 1, 2025." This statement once led to a decline in US stocks and Bitcoin.
