This new payment option is enabled through a partnership with Shift4 Payments, a firm specializing in crypto transaction technology, making Blue Origin one of the first space tourism companies to accept digital currencies for ticket purchases on its New Shepard spacecraft.

With this integration, Blue Origin customers can directly complete payments from popular cryptocurrency wallets such as MetaMask and Coinbase, streamlining the purchasing process of these high-value spaceflight tickets.
Shift4 Payments CEO Taylor Lauber expressed enthusiasm about extending their technology beyond Earth, highlighting the alignment of this service with increasing digital currency adoption in premium markets. Alex Wilson, Shift4’s Head of Crypto, added that cryptocurrencies and stablecoins are likely to become popular for luxury purchases like space tourism, benefiting both consumers and merchants financially.
Blue Origin’s acceptance of cryptocurrency payments signals not only the maturation of crypto as a payment method but also the evolving interest in its role within highly specialized markets like space exploration. This development follows Blue Origin’s longstanding association with innovators in the crypto space, including previous involvement with crypto entrepreneur Justin Sun.
The integration aims to offer a secure, fast, and modern payment experience for customers who hold digital assets , opening new pathways for commercial space travel accessibility and funding. Future New Shepard spaceflight bookings can now be made using Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, and major stablecoins, reinforcing crypto’s expanding role in next-generation industries.
Meanwhile, institutional interest in Ethereum is accelerating at a remarkable pace, with corporations now buying Ether faster than Bitcoin, signalling a significant market shift, according to a recent report by Standard Chartered.
