Gondor, a startup focused on decentralized finance, announced the completion of its angel funding round, led by Maven11 Capital and joined by investors from Polymesh, Rhino.fi, Futuur, and Salt. The company's first product will be a lending protocol aimed at users of Polymarket, a cryptocurrency-based forecasting platform that allows trading contracts on real-world events, such as presidential elections, economic indicators, changes in monetary policy, and even weather phenomena.
Currently, Polymarket's model keeps traders' capital locked up until the market resolves, preventing participants from reinvesting in new opportunities. This lockup can last weeks or even years, depending on the event. Gondor's proposal is to unlock this liquidity by allowing open positions to be used as collateral for stablecoin loans.
"With Gondor, prediction market traders maximize returns by increasing their capital efficiency," the team stated in a post on X. The platform will be able to assess the risk and value of active positions to release proportional loans, without the trader having to close their Polymarket bet.
The initiative comes at a time of strong growth for Polymarket, which already handles billions in trading volume across a variety of events. The sector's rapid growth highlights the need for liquidity and risk management solutions, paving the way for Gondor to serve as essential complementary infrastructure.
In addition to offering more flexibility in the use of capital, the startup aims to expand its technology to other prediction markets, building a broader ecosystem of DeFi protocols specialized in this segment.
The support of institutional investors such as Maven11 Capital indicates confidence in Gondor's proposal and reinforces the expectation that the project will play a strategic role in the integration between prediction markets and the world of decentralized finance.
