World releases World ID v4.0, introducing account abstraction architecture and multi-key support
Foresight News reports that World (formerly Worldcoin) has released World ID v4.0, introducing account abstraction into the protocol. This upgrade transforms World ID from a single key to an abstract record in the public registry "WorldIDRegistry" and supports multiple authorized keys, enabling users to generate proofs on different devices or platforms.
The main features of this upgrade include: 1. Multi-key support, allowing users to manage multiple authenticators while maintaining the same identity; 2. Enhanced protocol resilience, supporting key rotation, revocation, and introducing an optional Recovery Agent to address key loss; 3. Launch of a web-based reference authenticator to simplify the browser experience; 4. Enhanced privacy protection, with OPRF nodes generating one-time nullifiers to prevent long-term tracking while maintaining proof integrity; 5. Introduction of a Relying Party Registry, enabling authenticators to identify the source of requests to prevent phishing attacks and laying the groundwork for future protocol fees.
