Intel CEO: Memory Shortage May Not Ease Until 2028

Jinse Finance reported that Intel (INTC.O) CEO Pat Gelsinger stated that the memory chip shortage in the computer industry is likely to persist for at least two more years. On Tuesday, he said: "As far as I know, there are currently no mitigation measures." Gelsinger mentioned that he had spoken with two key figures in the memory sector, who told him: "It won't ease until 2028." The large-scale construction of artificial intelligence infrastructure has greatly increased the demand for storage chips, which has led to a reduced supply of chips available for traditional computers and smartphones. This has resulted in chip shortages and rising prices—issues that may dampen consumer willingness to purchase these products. Gelsinger also pointed out that Nvidia, as a leading supplier of artificial intelligence processors, will further drive up memory demand with its latest Rubin platform and next-generation products, and that artificial intelligence will "consume a massive amount of memory."
