WLFI minted an additional 25 million USD1 today after repaying a $25 million loan, resulting in a net increase of 22 million in circulation.
Foresight News report: According to Arkham data, World Liberty Financial (WLFI) today minted an additional 25 million USD1 through BitGo Custody and destroyed 3 million USD1 via the TokenGovernor contract, resulting in a net increase of 22 million USD1 in circulation. The amount minted this time exactly matches the loan amount WLFI claimed to have repaid a few days ago.
Previously, WLFI used a large number of governance tokens as collateral to borrow stablecoins on the DeFi lending protocol Dolomite, causing the USD1 lending pool usage on the platform to approach 100% and preventing other depositors from withdrawing normally. WLFI has not disclosed the reason for this destruction or the specific purpose of the newly minted tokens.
