- The wallet offers transaction protection for up to $10.
- Users retain full control over keys and assets.
MetaMask announced this Monday the launch MetaMask Agent Wallet is a new self-custody wallet developed to integrate artificial intelligence agents into blockchain operations. The goal is to allow users to automate activities related to trading and DeFi protocols without relinquishing control over their digital assets.
The launch comes at a time of growing use of AI agents to perform financial tasks, monitor markets, and interact with decentralized applications. According to the MetaMask team, the new solution is designed to combine automation with human oversight mechanisms, reducing risks associated with the automated execution of transactions.
Agent Wallet provides dedicated accounts for AI agents, allowing the owner to pre-define spending limits, authorized protocols, and operational rules. This way, activities can be executed autonomously within the parameters established by the user.
If a transaction exceeds defined limits or is identified as potentially suspicious, the operation is interrupted and requires manual approval. In these cases, authorization depends on two-factor authentication (2FA), adding an extra layer of security before execution on the blockchain.
Among the security features incorporated into the wallet are pre-transaction simulation, threat detection systems developed by Blockaid, and protection against MEV-related attacks on smart transactions. In addition, MetaMask reported that eligible users will have access to transaction protection coverage of up to $10 per month.
These features are available on several popular cryptocurrency networks, including Ethereum, Linea, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Base, Polygon, BNB Chain, and Sei.
The company also highlighted the wallet's compatibility with different AI agent frameworks used by traders, developers, and automation professionals. Supported platforms include OpenClaw, OpenAI Codex, Claude Code, Nous Research Hermes Agent, Cursor, and other similar environments.
Another point emphasized by MetaMask is the preservation of self-custody. Users maintain full control over their private keys and can export their Recovery Passphrase whenever they want, without depending on third parties to access their funds.
Agent Wallet enters the market with two distinct operating modes. Guard Mode prioritizes human supervision through approval and monitoring policies. Beast Mode, on the other hand, was created for users who prefer a higher level of automation in their operations.
MetaMask's new wallet is already available through a limited early access program. The company expects to expand availability to the general public in the coming months.
