Once the plan came out, yields eased and the dollar dropped, and that combination brought back talk of dollar debasement, the idea that as debt keeps piling up, confidence in the currency slowly erodes. That matters a lot for gold, since gold pays no yield of its own. When bond yields fall, the cost of holding gold instead of bonds goes down, which makes it more attractive. Underneath all of this sits a slower story too, central bank buying jumped to 288.9 tonnes last quarter, about five times the prior quarter and the strongest second quarter on record, a reminder that this rally is not just about yields and headlines, but about a longer term shift in how reserves are being managed. In terms of how I am playing this, my first setup is watching for a clean close above 4,541.045 with real follow through, then looking for a retest of the 4,498 to 4,541 zone to enter long, targeting the 4,595.330 high and beyond if momentum holds. Invalidation there is a break back below 4,498.79. My second setup is a rejection play, if price fails here I want to see a slide into 4,450.745 for a possible long back toward resistance, invalidated by a clean close below that support.
