Matter Labs CEO: Linea’s hacker attack highlights the need for Layer2 to prioritize decentralization
On June 3rd, Matter Labs CEO Alex Gluchowski stated that after being attacked by hackers on Velocore, the Ethereum Layer2 blockchain Linea has decided to stop block production, highlighting the need for Layer2 companies to prioritize decentralization early on. Linea's product manager, Declan Fox, agrees with this and also believes that decentralization is necessary, but he emphasizes that the network is "solidly" moving towards decentralization and the required time window is much shorter than many competitors. Declan Fox wrote, "Given that many Rollup frameworks that appeared two years before us have not progressed further than us, I am quite satisfied with our progress."
