U.S. First Lady Melania Trump has broken new ground in publishing by releasing an audiobook version of her memoir, “Melania,” narrated entirely by an artificial intelligence-generated replica of her voice.
The audiobook, developed in partnership with AI audio startup ElevenLabs, is available exclusively on the ElevenReader app for $25, with versions in Spanish, Portuguese, and Hindi expected soon (Decrypt).
This marks the first time a U.S. First Lady has used AI to narrate a commercial publication. According to Melania Trump’s official website , the AI voice model was created “under her direction and supervision.” The memoir covers her early years in Slovenia, her modelling career, and her journey to the White House after meeting Donald Trump.

“I am honored to bring you Melania – The AI Audiobook – narrated entirely using artificial intelligence in my own voice. Let the future of publishing begin,”
Trump announced on social media.
The use of AI to clone Melania Trump’s voice brings attention to the evolving legal landscape surrounding digital likeness and voice rights. Dhrupad Das, a Web3 lawyer and founding partner at Panda Law, told Decrypt that while text-to-speech technology is generally accepted for generic narration, cloning a public figure’s voice enters a “legal gray zone.” Even with Trump’s explicit licensing, Das noted,
“the moment you use a recognizable voice, you’re entering legal territory, even if the data came from public sources.”
This issue is particularly relevant as AI-generated deepfakes and voice clones become more sophisticated and accessible.
The audiobook’s release comes on the heels of Melania Trump’s appearance at the White House for the signing of the “Take It Down Act.” This new federal law criminalizes the online publication of non-consensual intimate images, including AI-generated deepfakes, and requires platforms to remove such content within 48 hours. Trump called the legislation “a powerful step forward” in protecting Americans from digital abuse.
