Nokia (NYSE:NOK) has announced a groundbreaking collaboration with Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) Amazon Web Services (AWS) to introduce an AI-powered 5G-Advanced network slicing solution.

On Monday, this strategic partnership was revealed to bring agentic AI capabilities to live 5G networks, aiming to enhance telecommunication providers’ ability to deliver premium services precisely when and where they are needed.

Nokia And AWS Partnership

This collaboration leverages Nokia’s advanced network slicing technology combined with AWSs AI platform to empower telecom operators to offer adaptive network slicing.

This innovation allows for the dynamic adjustment of network resources in response to real-world conditions, enhancing service quality during unpredictable events such as traffic surges or emergencies.

According to Pallavi Mahajan, Nokias Chief Technology and AI Officer, this development is a significant step in evolving AI-native networks.

By integrating agentic AI, operators can deliver intent-based services that adjust in real-time, unlocking new value streams for telecommunication providers and supporting next-generation applications.

How AI Is Changing Network Services

The new AI-powered solution from Nokia and AWS utilizes real-world data, including traffic and event information, to optimize network performance.

This approach transforms network slicing from a technical capability into a business enabler, allowing operators to monetize their 5G investments through differentiated services that automatically adapt to customer needs.

Amir Rao, Global Director at AWS, highlighted that integrating agentic AI capabilities with Nokias application allows operators to deliver intelligent, context-aware network slicing.

This innovation transforms network slicing into a tool for real-time service provisioning, enabling telecommunications providers to offer premium services that meet diverse customer demands.

Two Operators Test Cutting-Edge Network Solutions

Du and Orange are among the first operators to test this innovative solution in their networks. Saleem Alblooshi, Chief Technology Officer at du, expressed excitement about piloting the AI-powered slicing, which promises to deliver highly responsive services for both enterprise and consumer applications.

Meanwhile, Atoosa Hatefi, Director of Innovation in Radio and Environment at Orange, noted that this experimentation demonstrates AIs potential to revolutionize network operations.

The intent-based slicing allows for tailored services that anticipate customer needs across various use cases, from critical applications to immersive entertainment.

NOK Price Action: Nokia shares were down 1.72% at $7.44 during premarket trading on Monday.
