Ethereum Foundation Moves $7.86M in ETH to Lido as Part of Treasury Strategy Shift » CoinEagle
Key Points
- Ethereum Foundation deposited 4,938 ETH into Lido under its treasury staking initiative.
- Move reflects ongoing treasury rebalancing amid tightening ETH supply conditions.
The Ethereum Foundation deposited 4,938 Ethereum (ETH), worth roughly $7.86 million at the time, into Lido Finance on June 30, 2026, according to on-chain tracking data.
Blockchain monitor Onchain Lens reported the transaction and indicated that additional staking could follow, though the foundation has not issued a public statement regarding this specific deposit.
The transaction falls under the foundation’s Treasury Staking Initiative announced on February 24, 2026, targeting around 70,000 ETH allocated to staking.
Rewards generated from the program are intended to support protocol development, grants, and operational expenses.
Staking Allocation and Lido Activity
The latest deposit follows earlier shifts in the foundation’s staking structure across Lido and self-managed validators.
By late April 2026, total staked holdings had reached nearly 69,500 ETH before approximately 21,270 ETH was withdrawn from Lido through batched transactions to its unstETH contract.
On-chain analysts interpreted the earlier withdrawal as a redistribution toward internally operated validator infrastructure rather than a reduction in overall staking exposure.
Data shows the foundation continues to rotate allocations between third-party liquid staking protocols and its own validators.
Lido Finance remains among the largest liquid staking providers on Ethereum, accounting for roughly 22.8% of total staked ETH and issuing stETH tokens that represent staked positions.
Supply Metrics and Market Context
The deposit occurs amid declining ETH balances on centralized exchanges, based on aggregated on-chain data from major tracking platforms.
Lower exchange reserves indicate a reduced liquid supply available for spot market sales.
As of January 2026, more than 30% of the total ETH supply, approximately 36.6 million coins, was staked, marking an all-time high level of network participation.
Market commentators have identified the $1,500 level as a key near-term support zone, citing price stabilization above that mark as necessary for potential upward movement.
Despite tightening supply conditions and sustained staking growth, ETH has not yet demonstrated consistent upward price momentum.
