WEMIX contract ownership was compromised, resulting in the unauthorized minting of over 5.22 million WEMIX tokens, with funds bridged to Ethereum and BSC.
According to ChainCatcher, the Korean blockchain gaming platform WEMIX has updated regarding abnormal transaction activity and response measures. Investigation results indicate that the ownership of contracts related to WEMIX was compromised, and the attacker illicitly issued approximately 5,225,525 WEMIX, which was subsequently swapped for about 30,736 WEMIX and 724,198.27 USDC.e.
The stolen USDC.e was bridged to Ethereum and BSC, exchanged for assets such as ETH and USDT, with part of the funds deposited into centralized exchanges. The attacker’s wallet and fund flow have already been tracked, and requests to freeze assets have been submitted to exchanges and stablecoin issuers. The exact cause is still under investigation, and the team, together with external experts, is conducting a comprehensive review while also auditing related and similar contracts. Market data shows the WEMIX token price dropped 16.65% in the past 24 hours.
