Story Highlights
  • ARB price has jumped nearly 30%, moving toward $0.118 after breaking above a prolonged descending trendline.

  • Futures volume surged 713.64% to $814.13 million, while open interest increased 62.09% to $157.06 million.

  • A sustained hold above $0.091-$0.092 could send ARB toward $0.14-$0.15, with $0.18 as the next major resistance.

ARB price has climbed nearly 30% to around $0.118, breaking above the descending trendline that had capped its recovery for months. The rally has coincided with a sharp increase in derivatives activity, with Arbitrum futures volume reaching $814.13 million, up 713.64%, while open interest rose 62.09% to $157.06 million. The combination puts ARB above a key technical barrier with significantly higher market participation, leaving $0.15 as the next major level for buyers to challenge.

$814M Futures Volume Signals Heavy Positioning

Arbitrum’s derivatives market has expanded rapidly alongside the price breakout. 24-hour futures volume has risen 713.64% to $814.13 million, while open interest has climbed 62.09% to $157.06 million. Volume measures the amount of contracts traded, whereas open interest tracks outstanding positions. The simultaneous rise indicates that trading activity and active positioning have both increased as ARB moved higher.

The higher open interest also raises liquidation risk. If ARB continues higher, short liquidations could add momentum. If the breakout fails, leveraged long positions could accelerate the decline.

ARB Price Analysis: $0.15 Decides the Next Leg

ARB’s daily chart shows the token breaking above a descending trendline after an extended sequence of lower highs. Arbitrum price previously fell toward the $0.07-$0.08 region, where buyers established a base. The subsequent recovery pushed ARB back above the declining trendline and toward $0.118, marking a clear departure from the previous bearish structure.

The breakout now places the $0.091-$0.092 area at the center of the chart. A pullback that holds this region would establish the former resistance as support and preserve the higher-low structure. A daily close back below $0.091 would weaken the breakout and increase the risk of a move toward $0.087-$0.088. ARB’s immediate support sits at $0.091-$0.092, while the next major resistance is positioned around $0.14-$0.15.

Holding above $0.092 would allow buyers to maintain the breakout structure and target $0.14 first. A decisive daily close above $0.15, supported by sustained volume, would clear the next major supply zone and bring $0.18 into focus. Failure to hold $0.091-$0.092 would change the structure. In that case, ARB could return toward $0.087-$0.088, while a deeper breakdown would put the previous $0.07-$0.08 base back on the chart.

Final Words

ARB’s immediate trend favors buyers while price holds $0.091-$0.092. A move through $0.14-$0.15 would confirm broader breakout momentum and expose $0.18 as the next major resistance. The 713.64% increase in futures volume and 62.09% rise in open interest show that traders are heavily repositioning around the move, but elevated leverage can work in both directions. A sustained hold above $0.092 keeps the upside structure intact; losing that level would put the breakout at risk.

There are three combined driving forces behind this: the rare public pressure from US Treasury Secretary Yellen on Japan to raise interest rates during the G20, the market's expectation of a 90% probability of a rate hike by the Bank of Japan in September, and the global bond sell-off resonance. Although today's 10-year government bond auction saw solid demand, the market remains divided on future trends. If Thursday's 30-year JGB auction is weak, it could trigger a global chain reaction of sell-offs.
