InterDigital Wins Third Patent Infringement Injunction Against Disney

08:39 AM EDT, 09/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- InterDigital (IDCC) said Wednesday it has been awarded a third injunction in its European patent infringement case against Disney (DIS). A Dusseldorf, Germany, division of the Unified Patent Court ruled that InterDigital is entitled to an injunction over Disney's infringement of an InterDigital patent which covers technology allowing users to engage in seamless viewing while sharing video content between different devices, the company said. The court also confirmed the validity of the patent, InterDigital said, adding that the injunction covers Germany and the Netherlands. Disney can appeal the decision. InterDigital was awarded two previous injunctions that both covered patents related to certain video encoding techniques related to HEVC, according to a statement. Disney did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
