DOJ Antitrust Unit Adds Eight Retailers to Beef Pricing Investigation

07:53 PM EDT, 09/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The US Department of Justice said in a post on social media platform X on Wednesday that its antitrust division has expanded an investigation into beef affordability to add eight major retailers, including Walmart (WMT) and Costco (COST). Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward has sent letters regarding the recent surge in retail beef prices to the companies, which also include Amazon (AMZN), according to the post. The list also includes Kroger (KR), Albertsons (ACI), Aldi, Publix and Ahold Delhaize USA.
