Ethereum targets $3,000 as analysts eye key resistance between $2,500 and $2,700

Ether (ETH) has hovered near the $2,500 level in recent days, drawing attention to a significant resistance area known as the Fair Value Gap (FVG). This range, spanning $2,500 to $2,700, is seen by market observers as a critical barrier for Ethereum’s price. Should ETH break through this zone, momentum could shift further in favor of bullish traders.

Analysts highlight the path to $3,000

Technical analysts have identified the $3,000 level as a plausible short-term target, contingent on Ethereum’s ability to close the week above $2,700. Chartist Alex Marzell cited this threshold as an important marker: should ETH finish the week above $2,700, the route to $3,000 may open. If bullish sentiment dominates at those levels, even higher price points could come into play, such as $3,500.

Several experts have published similar projections, provided that Ether consolidates above crucial checkpoints. Analyst Ali Martinez referenced a notable development in on-chain metrics, reporting a decrease of 116,000 ETH in available supply for sale. This signals that many Ethereum holders are opting to retain their assets rather than sell at current values.

Analysts are observing a weakening supply side as more ETH holders withdraw their coins from exchanges and maintain their positions, which could strengthen price support at higher levels.

Technical specialist Ted Pilows noted that a liquidity cluster exists around $2,600, acting as a potential short-term resistance. At the same time, he highlighted substantial buying activity and liquidity between $1,800 and $2,200, areas where ETH has previously found steady support.

Mini dictionary: Fair Value Gap (FVG), a technical analysis concept that refers to a price range on a chart where little trading activity has occurred, creating a gap seen as potential resistance or support for future price movements.

Market sentiment and exchange balances

Should Ethereum decisively clear the resistance between $2,500 and $2,700, analysts suggest the price could soon test higher ranges. Real-time liquidity heatmaps indicate that if resistance is flipped into support, longer-term appreciation may follow.

On derivatives exchanges, traders have leaned toward a more optimistic outlook, with the current long-to-short ratio standing at 1.017. Increased leveraged volume to $42.30 billion reflects heightened speculative interest, while open interest has remained relatively steady this week.

Metric Current Value Key Level/Comparison
ETH Price $2,500 Resistance at $2,500–$2,700
Long/Short Ratio 1.017 More longs vs. shorts
Leveraged Volume $42.30 billion Spike from previous week
Supply withdrawn 116,000 ETH Reduced sell-side pressure

Liquidity trends point to holding behavior

Data shows that balances of Ethereum on centralized crypto exchanges are becoming scarcer. This reduction is commonly interpreted as a sign of increasing holding behavior among investors, potentially supporting upward price movements in the future.

Traders observe that resistance zones this week have not yielded easily, resulting in mostly sideways price action despite fluctuations in leveraged trading volumes.

Ethereum’s next decisive move appears dependent on its ability to convert current resistance zones into lasting support, while liquidity, supply-side shifts, and market sentiment all play influential roles in shaping the short-term outlook.

U.S. equity risk premium hits lowest level since 2002, JPMorgan: Impact of rising interest rates will be more painful than in the past two decades

The buffer for risk in the US stock market is running thin. JPMorgan warns that the equity risk premium of the S&P 500 has fallen to 2.1%, its lowest level since 2002, more than 100 basis points below its historical average. The era of low premiums hides three major risks: a systemic increase in the stock market's sensitivity to interest rate shocks; global investors have overweighted equities to a twenty-year high, facing rebalancing pressure; and the strengthening positive correlation between stocks and bonds is causing risk parity strategies to continuously fail. If real interest rates rise further, this silent repricing of valuations may erupt violently.
