U.S. Wholesalers' Inventories Climbed as Expected in July

U.S. wholesale inventories increased as predicted in July, the Commerce Department said Thursday.

The stocks at wholesale warehouses rose by 1.3% in July from June's revised level to $958.9 billion. The readout was in line with the expectations of analysts surveyed by The Wall Street Journal.

Sales by wholesalers were up 0.8% month over month in July at $801.3 billion. The inventory-to-sales ratio was 1.2, down from 1.28 a year earlier.
