01:15 PM EDT, 10/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were higher Thursday afternoon, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) increasing 0.9% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) up 0.6%. In corporate news, DoorDash (DASH) has agreed to buy Maplebear (CART), which does business as Instacart, in a roughly $17 billion deal aimed at strengthening their grocery delivery business, while the food delivery company reported stronger-than-expected Q3 results. DoorDash shares rose 5.2%, and Instacart fell 2.1%.
