Dogecoin falls 7% to $0.071 as derivatives interest drops below $1 billion
Dogecoin is facing renewed selling pressure, driving its price lower and leading to declining activity in its derivatives market. This recent decline coincides with renewed social media attention on Elon Musk’s historic poll about the possibility of Tesla accepting Dogecoin as payment, though no official comment or decision has followed since.
Technical pressures push Dogecoin to key support
Dogecoin (DOGE) is currently trading at $0.07155, representing a 7.17% decrease over the past 24 hours. This move places DOGE beneath its lower Bollinger Band, with the band’s bottom currently at $0.07250. Meanwhile, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) sits at 32.60, nearing the oversold mark of 30 but not yet signaling a definite reversal in momentum.
Recent daily chart data underscores that sellers remain dominant, eroding gains made during late October. The latest candle shows a low of $0.07111, highlighting a significant downside test as DOGE approaches a crucial support level. If sellers manage to push the price decisively below $0.071, analysts anticipate the potential for further declines unless buyers can reclaim lost ground quickly.
| Lower Bollinger Band | 0.07250 | Current price below this band |
| Middle Bollinger Band | 0.07758 | First target for recovery |
| Upper Bollinger Band | 0.08265 | Potential resistance |
| Key Resistance | 0.08350 | Break above signals strength |
| Major Resistance | 0.09237 | Next significant upside target |
If buyers succeed in pushing DOGE above $0.07758, this could act as the first indicator of a shift in momentum. A move past $0.08265 and the $0.08350 resistance level might reinforce a bullish reversal.
Elon Musk’s Tesla poll resurfaces but impact remains muted
Interest in Tesla’s potential adoption of Dogecoin as payment reemerged after a post on X drew attention to an earlier poll conducted by Elon Musk on November 5, 2021. The survey attracted 3,922,516 responses, with 78% expressing support for Tesla accepting DOGE and 22% dissenting.
Elon Musk’s public association with Dogecoin has historically sparked rallies and intensified discussions about mainstream cryptocurrency adoption. However, the recent resurfacing of the poll did not coincide with any new announcements, and the technical setup for Dogecoin appears unaffected by these discussions.
Dogecoin’s future adoption remains a subject of debate among supporters, but the absence of any official confirmation from Tesla limits the immediate impact on market dynamics.
Derivatives market points to declining interest
Data from CoinGlass reveals that open interest in Dogecoin derivatives has decreased. After reaching a peak of approximately $1.6 billion in September, open interest fell to about $1 billion by early November, reflecting reduced market participation in both futures and options tied to DOGE.
The liquidation chart highlights repeated surges in forced position closures for both long and short traders, suggesting heightened volatility and risk within Dogecoin’s derivatives market.
A declining open interest often indicates waning confidence or reduced engagement from traders, although it does not clarify whether investors are primarily unwinding long positions or entering new shorts.

Sustained selling pressure, a weakening RSI, and falling derivatives activity together suggest that short-term risks remain elevated for Dogecoin unless technical support zones can be reclaimed.
At present, the prevailing momentum remains on the side of sellers. Market participants are advised to closely monitor technical levels, market sentiment, and forthcoming catalysts.
