Stablecoins are quickly moving from pilot projects to a core part of global payment systems, according to Fireblocks’ newly released “State of Stablecoins 2025” report. Stablecoins are quickly moving from pilot projects to a core part of global payment systems, according to Fireblocks’ newly released “State of Stablecoins 2025” report . The digital asset platform revealed that stablecoin transactions on its network now reach $40 billion per quarter, reflecting surging institutional use and a clear shift from experimentation to full-scale implementation.

Based on a survey of 295 C-suite executives across banks, fintech firms, and crypto-native companies, Fireblocks found that 90% of respondents already have live stablecoin initiatives in pilot or planning. While the promise of cost savings often drove early adoption, the latest data shows that executives are now more focused on revenue generation, liquidity control, and market expansion.

The report highlights a major strategic pivot: cross-border B2B payments lead the use cases, with firms now demanding faster settlements, better liquidity management, and stronger infrastructure. Forty-nine per cent of respondents actively use stablecoins for payments, while another 41% are testing or planning to deploy them. Faster settlement times (48%) and enhanced liquidity (34%) ranked above cost savings (32%) as primary benefits.

Security and regulatory clarity are also shaping adoption . Thirty-six per cent of executives cited fraud protection and stronger security as key motivators, and 31% considered security a core advantage. Notably, regulatory uncertainty, once a major barrier, has dropped significantly, with 86% of firms now viewing emerging rules as positive, mainly due to global standardization and improved oversight.

Regionally, Latin America leads in active cross-border usage, while Asia focuses on B2B scale and liquidity. North America showcases the broadest application range, and Europe heavily emphasizes legacy fraud mitigation.

Fireblocks, which powers over 300 banks and fintechs in 75 countries, says these trends signal a structural shift in how value moves globally. “Boards at major payments enterprises now see stablecoins as a strategic imperative,” said Vasant Prabhu, former Visa Vice Chairman and Fireblocks advisory board member. He noted that companies adapt quickly to remain competitive and relevant as blockchain-based finance grows.
