EU Plans to Impose New Tariffs and Export Controls on US Services as Retaliation for Failed Trade Talks
Odaily Planet Daily – According to the Financial Times, two officials familiar with the negotiations have stated that the European Union is preparing a potential list of tariffs and export control measures targeting U.S. services as a possible retaliatory measure in the event that trade talks with the United States break down. The European Commission is drafting this list in response to tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, and it will need to be submitted to EU member states for approval. In addition, EU countries are already discussing a retaliatory proposal targeting €72 billion worth of U.S. imports annually—including additional tariffs on Boeing aircraft, automobiles, and bourbon whiskey—with the newly drafted list set to further supplement these measures.
