South Korea’s National Tax Service Recovers Approximately 22.6 Billion KRW in Taxes from Exchange Operator Dunamu
According to a report by Jinse Finance on the 17th, exchange operator Dunamu announced that following a tax investigation by the Seoul Regional Tax Office, the company has been levied an additional tax payment of 22.635 billion KRW, including corporate tax. The International Transaction Investigation Bureau of the Seoul Regional Tax Office launched a tax probe into Dunamu in February this year. The announcement shows that the tax office notified Dunamu of the assessment on June 30, and Dunamu has already paid the amount. This additional tax payment of 22.635 billion KRW accounts for about 23% of Dunamu’s second-quarter net profit (approximately 97.6 billion KRW). In addition, Dunamu is also involved in a lawsuit with financial regulators. In February, the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) notified Dunamu of a “three-month partial business suspension” penalty, issued a “responsibility warning” to CEO Lee Seok-woo, and dismissed the compliance officer along with nine other employees.
