Mario Nawfal reveals that SBF once helped the former president of Honduras prepare for trial, who has since been pardoned by Trump
Jinse Finance reported that Mario Nawfal, founder and CEO of Dubai venture capital firm IBC Group, stated on social media that when he discussed the FTX collapse with SBF (the interview will be released soon), SBF shared an unexpected story with him. SBF’s former prison mate, former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, was just pardoned by Trump. Last June, Hernández was sentenced to 45 years in prison in the United States for drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms. SBF said: “I lived in the same prison unit with Juan Orlando for a year and a half. I got to know him quite well. I’d like to believe we became friends. I can’t think of any inmate more deserving of a pardon; he was framed.” SBF spent a lot of time helping Hernández prepare for trial and reviewing related evidence. SBF stated: “Not only is he not a drug lord, he may be the most effective anti-drug cartel leader in the world. Juan Orlando is the most innocent prisoner I have ever met, including myself.” This pardon occurred just days before the Honduran election on November 30, with Trump supporting National Party candidate Nasry Asfura, who is from the same party as Hernández.
