China's largest vanadium flow battery energy storage power station begins full-capacity operation

Golden Ten Data reported on January 3 that, according to China Three Gorges Corporation, on December 31, the largest all-vanadium flow battery energy storage power station in China—the Three Gorges Group Xinjiang Jimusaer All-Vanadium Flow Battery Energy Storage Power Station—achieved full-capacity operation, marking a significant breakthrough for China in the application of large-capacity, long-duration energy storage technologies. The power station is located in Jimusaer County, Changji Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with a rated power of 200,000 kilowatts and an energy storage capacity of 1 million kilowatt-hours, making it the largest all-vanadium flow battery energy storage power station currently in operation in China. During the daytime, when photovoltaic panels receive the most sunlight and achieve the highest generation efficiency, the station can store surplus electricity that the grid cannot absorb in time, and release it at night or during peak electricity demand. It is expected to increase the utilization rate of the supporting photovoltaic power station by more than 10% annually, with a maximum increase of over 230 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity generated each year.
