Ukraine imposes a nationwide ban on Polymarket for operating illegal gambling without a license
PANews, January 13—According to Finance Feeds, on January 12, 2026, the Ukrainian government officially took action to restrict access within the country to the decentralized prediction platform Polymarket. This enforcement action was led by the National Commission for State Regulation of Electronic Communications (NCEC), based on the formal assessment of PlayCity, the newly established national agency responsible for regulating the gambling and betting industry. The regulatory authorities determined that, under Ukrainian law, the operation of the Polymarket market constitutes unlicensed gambling, specifically noting that the platform lacks locally recognized licenses to organize and conduct betting activities. According to Resolution No. 695, the domain polymarket.com has been included in the country's public registry of prohibited internet resources, requiring all local electronic communication service providers to restrict user access to the website.
