Golden Ten Data, March 19 — Due to the turmoil in the global energy market caused by the Iran war, coal prices have surged, and Indonesia will allow miners to increase coal production. Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said on Thursday that, given the escalating conflict in the Middle East, the government will raise production quotas for coal miners. He also stated that the government is studying the imposition of export taxes on this fossil fuel to boost national fiscal revenue. As the world's largest coal exporter, this move indicates that the government is taking increasingly proactive measures to address the volatility in the energy market, marking a sharp contrast to previous policies that restricted production to support prices. As countries increase coal usage for power generation to replace natural gas, demand is expected to rise.
