Iran Halts Direct Talks with US After Trump's Threats
According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Iran has suspended direct communication with the United States after President Donald Trump warned of destroying the nation’s entire civilization.
The source noted that while negotiations involving cease-fire mediators are ongoing, reaching an agreement has become increasingly challenging.
On Tuesday, Trump wrote on Truth Social, "An entire civilization could be wiped out tonight, never to return. I hope it doesn’t come to that, but it seems likely."
He further commented, "Now that we have achieved a complete change in leadership, with new, more rational and less extreme figures in charge, there is a chance for something truly remarkable to happen."
Impact on Financial Markets
Investor sentiment remained cautious during the early US trading session. At the time of reporting, the S&P 500 Index had fallen by 0.72% for the day, and the Nasdaq Composite was down 1.15%.
