Glonghui, April 13th｜An Abbott spokesperson stated that a jury in Chicago has ruled that the company must pay $70 million in compensation to a group of families. The verdict was reached after a lengthy trial and is the latest among hundreds of lawsuits alleging that Abbott's cow's milk-based infant formula products for premature babies may cause necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). The lawsuits from four families were consolidated for trial. Abbott stated in a release that it will appeal the decision.
