US Dollar Remains Weak Amid Ceasefire Hopes

The US Dollar continues to struggle, holding onto losses from Monday as optimism grows regarding ongoing efforts between the United States and Iran to secure a lasting ceasefire. Although the initial round of discussions in Pakistan over the weekend did not yield significant progress, both sides remain committed to further negotiations.

Currently, the US Dollar Index (DXY)—which measures the currency against six major counterparts—is trading steadily around 99.37, marking its lowest point in more than six weeks.

Earlier today, US Vice President JD Vance spoke with Fox News, describing the talks with Iranian representatives as “productive.” He noted that his team gained important insights into Iran’s negotiation tactics and expressed optimism about a second round of discussions, stating, “We’ve built momentum, and now it’s up to Iran to move the process forward.”

Additionally, CNN reported that US officials are internally planning for a possible follow-up meeting with Iranian delegates before the current ceasefire deadline on April 21.

Domestically, traders have ruled out the likelihood of the Federal Reserve raising interest rates, especially as falling oil prices and positive US-Iran developments continue to put pressure on the US Dollar.

Looking ahead, investors are set to pay close attention to the US Producer Price Index (PPI) for March, scheduled for release at 12:30 GMT on Tuesday.

5% US Treasury Yield, $120 Oil Price, VIX Index at 25? The Market's Nightmare Scenario Is Becoming Reality

The yield on the US 10-year Treasury has surged above 4.8%, rapidly approaching the critical “life-or-death line” at 5%. If it holds above this level, it will officially break out of its long-term fluctuating range, with almost no resistance above. Soaring oil prices and rising agricultural products continue to fuel inflation expectations. The VIX has awakened suddenly, and institutions are scrambling to buy tail risk protection. While the AI narrative underpins the resilience of tech stocks, the 35% short accumulation in the Nasdaq could trigger a short squeeze at any time.
