Producer prices for March 2026: down 0.2% compared to March 2025
Industrial Producer Prices Show Mixed Trends in March 2026
According to data from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), prices for industrial goods produced in March 2026 fell by 0.2% compared to the same month in 2025. However, when measured against February 2026, producer prices saw a notable rise of 2.5%—the steepest monthly increase since August 2022, when prices jumped by 5.4%.
These contrasting movements—an annual decrease but a sharp monthly surge—are largely driven by shifts in energy costs. The ongoing conflict in Iran and the Middle East has played a significant role, especially in driving up the prices of mineral oil products over the past year.
