During the second phase of the Trump administration, Apple disclosed over $3.3 billion in tariff costs. In Thursday's conference call with analysts to discuss quarterly financial results, the company neither updated this figure nor provided a specific anticipated refund amount. However, Cook stated that related costs decreased in the fiscal quarter ended March 28. “Regarding the application for refunding tariffs already paid, we are following established procedures and plan to reinvest any funds recovered into innovation and advanced manufacturing in the United States,” Cook said during the call. “These will be new investments and will supplement our previous commitments in the U.S.” Last year, Apple announced plans to invest $60 billion with its U.S. suppliers, including companies such as Corning Corporation, which produces glass for iPhones and other products in Kentucky. Currently, Apple is assembling artificial intelligence servers and some Mac Mini computers in Houston.
