(1) The Bank of Japan stated in a statement that Deputy Governor Shinichi Uchida was discharged from hospital on Tuesday. (2) In November, the Bank of Japan announced that Uchida had been hospitalized for leukemia treatment and would continue to perform his duties remotely. (3) Uchida has spent most of his career formulating monetary policy and became one of the Bank of Japan's Deputy Governors in March 2023, with a five-year term. He often reveals important information about the future direction of policy in public, and is regarded as a key figure in determining monetary policy direction.
