Glonghui, June 16 — Google’s parent company Alphabet has announced it will invest up to $1.5 billion in its Alabama data center between 2026 and 2027, significantly expanding its data center operations. This expansion will further enhance Google’s existing campus in Jackson County. The campus, located on the site of the former Widows Creek coal-fired power plant owned by the Tennessee Valley Authority, has been in operation since 2019. Google stated that since entering Jackson County in 2018, its total investment has exceeded $2 billion. The latest expansion phase is expected to create over 1,000 jobs locally during the construction period.
