Vance: 12.5 Million Barrels of Oil Have Passed Through the Strait, 60-Day Negotiation Period Officially Begins Today
On June 18, U.S. Vice President Vance stated at a White House press conference that 12.5 million barrels of oil have passed through the Strait of Hormuz following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran, ending nearly four months of conflict. He also announced that the 60-day negotiation period stipulated in the memorandum officially began on Thursday. Vance remarked, 'I would say the 60-day period officially starts today.' He added that Iran would not relinquish its right to self-defense, but as part of an agreement with Washington, the U.S. expects Tehran will not possess missiles that could 'broadly threaten the entire world.'
