Glonghui, June 25 — The Missouri state court in the United States may postpone an upcoming hearing originally scheduled to review Bayer's proposed $7.25 billion settlement aimed at resolving lawsuits alleging its Roundup herbicide causes cancer. St. Louis judge Timothy Boyer had approved the preliminary agreement for the settlement in March, and a final approval hearing was originally set for July 9. However, Boyer recently stated: "Postponing the final approval hearing may be most beneficial for the case's proceedings." Previously, there was a dispute over whether the settlement should be reviewed by the federal court or the Missouri state court. Bayer subsidiary Monsanto said that a reasonable extension in the state court would not have a substantive impact on the approval process.
