Consensys once mistakenly outsourced development work to personnel linked to North Korea, with access granted for about one month
ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, Consensys introduced a software developer earlier this year through a “reputable third-party service provider”, and upon investigation, discovered the developer was linked to North Korea. The developer, under the pseudonym Tyler Knapp, had approximately one month of access rights within Consensys' system.
Consensys' Chief Legal Officer Matt Corva stated that the developer was not a Consensys employee, but worked in an advisory capacity. After identifying the threat, the company immediately revoked access and conducted a comprehensive investigation, confirming that no assets or data were stolen, no malicious code was deployed, and user safety was not affected. Consensys said it would reassess its practices for outsourcing engineering and development work.
