In the early hours of the 20th local time, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran issued a statement saying that late at night on the 19th local time, two oil tankers, instigated and coerced by the US military, attempted to pass through the southern channel of the Strait of Hormuz, after which explosions occurred and the tankers were prevented from continuing their journey. The statement declared that the US military's interference had no legal basis and would be severely punished: "As long as the United States continues its wrongdoing in this region, this channel will remain unsafe, and ships transporting oil, natural gas, and other products will not be able to pass through safely.
