Corning (GLW.US) will release its Q3 2026 financial report on October 27.

According to Zhihui Finance APP, Corning (GLW.US) will release its Q3 2026 earnings report before market open on October 27. The Zacks market consensus expects its revenue to be $5 billion and earnings per share to be $0.88. Over the past 60 days, the market's estimate for Corning’s full-year 2026 EPS was raised by 0.61% to $3.29, while the 2027 EPS estimate was increased by 0.47% to $4.30.

This advanced glass substrate manufacturer has delivered excellent earnings performance over the past four quarters, averaging 1.75% above market expectations. Zacks’ proprietary model predicts Corning is likely to beat estimates for Q3 earnings.

Q3 Earnings Highlights: Optical Communications Take the Lead, Solar Awaits Recovery

Optical communications is still expected to be the key driver of Corning's Q3 results. Continued growth in AI infrastructure and hyperscale data center investments have fueled increased demand for fiber optics, optical cables, and high-density connectivity solutions. Corning’s multi-year agreements with Amazon and NVIDIA, as well as its previously announced partnership with Meta, further support demand. In addition, its September agreement with Verizon to supply high-density fiber and connectivity solutions through 2032 also enhances its long-term growth outlook. Furthermore, Corning’s planned expansion of US manufacturing capacity and investment in next-generation optical technologies will further solidify its long-term competitiveness.

The solar business is in a recovery phase. In Q2, extended maintenance shutdowns and equipment upgrades at wafer factories weighed on earnings performance. Management expects sales and profits to improve in Q3 as production resumes and operational efficiency increases. Corning is expanding its US production capacity for polysilicon, wafers, and modules, and improved production efficiency is expected to boost profitability in the solar business, providing an additional growth driver.

Looking at the medium and long term, the Springboard plan is expected to be implemented. Under the upgraded “Springboard” plan, management aims to achieve annualized sales of $20 billion by the end of 2026, $30 billion by the end of 2028, and $40 billion by the end of 2030. However, achieving these targets will depend on execution and whether customer demand can be sustained.

There are risks in uneven business performance. Demand trends in the consumer electronics and automotive markets, as well as the impact of rising memory chip prices on smartphones, may weigh on growth in some of Corning’s business segments.

Is Corning Worth Positioning Ahead of the Earnings Report?

Over the past year, Corning’s share price has risen 41.8%, compared to the industry average increase of 100.8%. From a valuation perspective, Corning's forward price-to-earnings ratio is 30.24x, below the industry average of 31.13x, but higher than its own historical average of 26.57x.

In summary, AI-driven optical connectivity demand, long-term customer agreements, and improvements in operating profit margin are Corning’s main positives for the Q3 earnings report. Profitability improvement in the solar business is also expected to further boost results. Continuous improvement in earnings and cash flow over recent quarters provides a tailwind. In Zacks’ view, buying Corning shares prior to the earnings announcement seems like a good investment choice.
