Shiba Inu is continuing its aggressive token burn strategy, aimed at reducing its total supply and supporting token value within its ecosystem. Latest data from the platform shows a notable decrease in the amount of circulating SHIB through these ongoing burns. This approach highlights the project’s commitment to a sustainable supply policy, with token burns remaining at the heart of Shiba Inu’s long-term economic roadmap.

Current state of token burns

Statistics reveal that Shiba Inu has carried out 20,696 burn transactions to date. Through these activities, a staggering total of 410,839,848,304,549 SHIB has been permanently removed from circulation. The estimated value of these burned tokens is around $7.35 billion. This figure accounts for approximately 41 percent of the cryptocurrency’s original total supply.

Shiba Inu initially launched with a total supply of 1 quadrillion SHIB tokens. Thanks to steady burning practices spanning thousands of transactions, the remaining supply has gradually dropped to 589,160,151,695,451 tokens as of today. This reduction reflects the platform’s systematic efforts over the years.

Short-term volatility and market impact

Recent data points to considerable fluctuations in short-term burn activity. In the last 24 hours, 1,591,370 SHIB were destroyed, marking a sharp 81.28 percent drop compared to the previous day. This decline followed a brief spike observed on April 15.

Looking at the wider weekly period, 59,338,197 SHIB have been permanently burned in the past seven days. Meanwhile, the last 30 days have seen 196,822,452 SHIB purchased on the market. Experts note that buying and burning often do not move in tandem and should be evaluated separately.

Vitalik Buterin’s historic burn and records

In May 2021, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin executed a landmark transaction by burning 90 percent of the SHIB he held, removing over 410 trillion tokens in a single move. At the time, the burn’s market value was close to $7 billion.

Buterin unexpectedly found himself in possession of half the SHIB supply, transferred by the project’s creators. He chose to send the bulk of these tokens to a dead address without prior coordination, while donating the remaining 10 percent to various charities.

Experts highlight that this remains the single largest token burn ever seen in the crypto world. There has yet to be another burn on a similar scale.

“The destruction of 410 trillion SHIB tokens stands as an unparalleled example of token burning. With a value of $7 billion, it remains one of the largest operations in crypto history, deeply affecting SHIB’s supply dynamics.”

Shiba Inu’s supply reduction mechanism continues to dominate the community’s agenda. While new burns are gradually lowering the circulating amount, Vitalik Buterin’s record transaction retains a decisive impact on SHIB’s long-term structure.

At present, Shiba Inu is trading at $0.000000609, reflecting a 6.01 percent increase in the past 24 hours. Recent price gains suggest that the consistent burn activities are resonating in the wider market.

This ongoing combination of regular burns and past record reductions further strengthens the project’s economic model, drawing attention across the cryptocurrency sector.
