Brazilian miner Vale’s (NYSE: VALE) board member Marcelo Gasparino said on Monday he had submitted his resignation from the company’s board, the latest development in governance tensions that resulted in the election of a new chairman last week.
Vale’s board had already decided to remove Gasparino for allegedly leaking confidential information from a June 19 meeting, but the move still required shareholder approval. Vale confirmed his resignation in a securities filing.
