CLARITY Act Update for XRP Holders: Senator States What Will Happen If No Vote this Week

Crypto enthusiast Michelle Kirby recently highlighted comments from Senator James Lankford indicating that the U.S. Senate may remain in Washington beyond its scheduled August recess if lawmakers do not complete several key priorities this week.

Michelle’s X post highlights the Senate’s efforts to prevent a government shutdown, confirm President Donald Trump’s nominees, and advance major legislative initiatives.

Michelle Kirby X quoted Lankford saying, “If we don’t get it done this week, we’ll keep going until we do get it done.” The statement accompanied a video of the Oklahoma senator speaking on Fox News, where he explained why the Senate’s current workload could delay lawmakers’ return home.

Lankford Details the Senate’s Immediate Priorities

During the interview, Lankford acknowledged that senators value the opportunity to spend time with constituents, especially as the country approaches election season. Although he noted that he is not on the ballot this cycle, he said it remains important for lawmakers to meet with the people they represent and hear their concerns.

However, Lankford explained that Congress must first complete several pressing tasks before leaving Washington. He said one of the Senate’s top priorities is passing a continuing resolution to ensure the federal government remains funded and to avoid a government shutdown.

He described preventing a shutdown as an important responsibility, making it one of the chamber’s primary objectives during the week.

Trump Nominees and Funding Bills Lead the Schedule

Lankford also said the Senate is working through more than 70 nominees put forward by President Trump. He explained that confirming those nominees is another major focus as lawmakers work through a packed legislative calendar.

In addition, the senator said the reconciliation process represents another important part of the Senate’s agenda. He explained that the legislation is the first step toward providing funding for the military, agriculture, and other national priorities. He also said the process will begin work on the Save America Act, which he described as an important legislative goal.

Throughout the interview, Lankford emphasized that the Senate is handling several significant issues simultaneously, leaving little room for delays if lawmakers hope to complete their work on schedule

What an Extended Senate Session Could Mean for the CLARITY Act

Although Senator Lankford did not specifically mention digital asset legislation, the Senate remaining in session beyond the August recess could be viewed as a positive development for the CLARITY Act. The bill, which seeks to establish a clearer regulatory framework for digital assets in the United States, remains one of the major pieces of crypto legislation awaiting further action in the Senate.

If lawmakers continue working through August, the additional legislative time could create more opportunities for Senate leadership to consider pending measures beyond the immediate priorities outlined by Lankford.
