U.S. Stock Market Closes: Fed's Waller Debuts, All Three Major Indexes Fall TogetherGolden Ten Data, June 18 — On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve maintained a hawkish stance at its interest rate meeting. All three major U.S. stock indexes closed lower; the Dow Jones Industrial Average preliminarily fell by 0.97%, the S&P 500 Index dropped 1.2%, and the Nasdaq fell 1.3%. SpaceX (SPCX.O) closed down 5%, NVIDIA (NVDA.O) dropped 1%, and Western Digital (WDC.O) rose 4%. The Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index closed down 1.1%, with Li Auto (LI.O) falling 3%.

The Federal Reserve keeps rates unchanged, non-US currencies generally fall on Waller's debut dayIn the commodity currency pairs, the Australian dollar fell by 0.9% against the US dollar, the New Zealand dollar fell by 1.25% against the US dollar, and the US dollar rose by 0.9% against the Canadian dollar. The Swedish krona fell by 1.64% against the US dollar, the Norwegian krone fell by 1.62% against the US dollar, and the Danish krone fell by 1.05% against the US dollar. The Polish zloty fell by 1.28% against the US dollar, while the US dollar rose by 1.90% against the Hungarian forint. Around 18:00 (UTC+8), the Indian rupee closed up 0.03% against the US dollar.
